AN/PAQ-6 Phone and Distance Line Replacement
MDD has been tasked by the US Navy to provide Program Management and Technical Oversight for the development of the AN/PAQ-6 system, which will replace the Phone and Distance Line used during Underway Replenishment (UnRep). The AN/PAQ-6 will provide a wireless, non-radio frequency communication and data link that will automatically connect between ships during the UnRep approach and throughout the UnRep evolution. The AN/PAQ-6 will provide for Sound Powered Phone connectivity between ships, Bridge-to-Bridge and UnRep Station-to Station, supply accurate range between ships, and relative position (station keeping). This will reduce the number of tended lines between ships, and increase safety.
